Are you interested in
singing the National Anthem at the 102nd Pennsylvania Farm Show? The
Pennsylvania Department of Agriculture will select a different individual or
group to perform the National Anthem at the beginning of each day of the 102nd
Pennsylvania Farm Show and one at Opening Ceremonies.
Eligibility: To be eligible for selection, you must:
- be a legal resident of the
Commonwealth of Pennsylvania;
- be available every day of the
102nd Pennsylvania Farm Show (which runs from January 6 through January 13,
2018) to be on-site at the Farm Show Complex by 7:45 a.m. to sing the
National Anthem at 8:00 a.m.;
- be someone other than an
employee, family member or person living in the same household as an
employee of the Pennsylvania Department of Agriculture; and
- if less than 18 years of age,
obtain and provide the written consent of a parent or guardian if you are
ultimately selected to perform.
To apply: When the contest is open, the
Pennsylvania Farm Show Facebook page (https://facebook.com/pafarmshow) will publish a post where video submissions
should be uploaded in the comments section. Upload a single video of yourself or
your group, singing the National Anthem from start-to-finish,
without instrumental accompaniment, to this original post. Submissions will be
accepted from Sunday, October 1 at 8 a.m. through Friday, October 20 at 12:00
p.m. EST. Video submissions for minors not on Facebook may be uploaded by
a parent or guardian. This video becomes the property of PDA once it is
uploaded to this Facebook page. PDA will “like” your uploaded video
comment to confirm your entry into the contest.
Voting: PDA will review all
video submissions, and select the top 25 applicants. This internal voting will
take place from Monday, October 23 through Friday, October 27. On Monday,
October 30 the selected top 25 will be posted in an album on the Farm Show
Facebook page to open fan voting. Fan voting will take place from Monday,
October 30 through Friday, November 10. The top nine (9) videos, based on total
reactions (likes, loves, wows, etc) will serve as our finalists to sing during
the 102nd Pennsylvania Farm Show.
Winner Notification: PDA will review all video submissions, and select the top 25
applicants. This internal voting will take place from Monday, October 23
through Friday, October 27. On Monday, October 30, these top 25 will be posted
in an album on the Farm Show Facebook page to open fan voting. Fan voting will
take place from Monday, October 30 through Friday, November 10, and
fan-favorite performers will be determined by the number of positive reactions
(“likes,” “loves,” “wows,” etc…) each video receives. PDA will select the
finalists to sing during the 102nd Pennsylvania Farm Show from among
these fan favorites, and retains sole discretion to select and schedule these
singers.
Winner Announcement: Winners will be publicly announced by Friday,
November 17 via Pennsylvania Farm Show social media pages.
If You Are Selected to
Sing: You will be
provided a complimentary, one-day parking pass to the show and must be at the
Farm Show Complex by 7:45 a.m. on the date you are to sing and – prior to
singing – complete a waiver form authorizing PDA and its partners to use your
picture, likeness and any photo/video/audio recording of you (including your
singing performance) as it sees fit, without payment or compensation to you.
If you are less than 18 years of age a parent or guardian must sign this
waiver for you.
Anything Else to Know? Yes! PDA reserves the right, in
its sole discretion, to cancel, terminate, modify or suspend this
contest.
